Since I'm taking off next week for Spring Break with my daughter, this is perfect timing since I'm usually a 9-5 slave and get no long lunches. Count me in. I may be new, but I can't wait to meet you guys! :D I hope the weather is nice so I can walk instead of driving.
When in doubt, add more wine.

Hi, everyone. Thank you very much for choosing our restaurant for dining.
I thought about some options for you. You can have our regular buffet or order off the menu, or I could prepare something special for your gathering. We do this sometimes when we have a large group of people. It's like personal buffet. You can tell me what you like or can't eat - I know that Gary doesn't eat beef. And if it's going to be less than 15 people you can have our karaoke room. Just an idea. Let me know what you think. That way, I can cook something different from what I always cook. It will be fun for me.

This is an option that I think would be great, instead of each person ordering.

An offline at De La Torres a number of years ago was done this way and it really worked well.
I believe this would be a great way to do this.

If some people have certain dietary desires or restrictions, (Gary doesn't eat beef) or vegetarian Toki will take care of this. Just let him know.

What do the rest of you think?

Hi Laura,

I'm so glad it worked out for you to join us......

I'm keeping track of attendees for our Maido adventure. Will your daughter attend as well?

Can't wait to meet face to face as I'm rather a new forumite myself.

Sounds like Toki will treat us to a bunch of FUN!

I think it sounds fantabulous, and I have no dietary restrictions or taboos. Mary is not crazy about lobster, but she'll basically eat anything, too.

I'm a picky eater (don't like vegtables or certain fish like salmon - ugh) so I would feel bad for someone to go out of their way for lil' ol' me. But I'm willing to try new (to me) foods. I'm starting to like some seafood... crab, shrimp, some tuna and squid (well, I've only had calamari which I like). Someone else can eat my veggies.

Bottom line... I'm game for a personal buffet, but only if it is easier on the Maido crew.

Welcome to the forum Toki! Your personal touch is why I love Maido-if everyone else agrees I think a personal buffet would be great, just as long as it works for you and your staff.
Thanks for getting this set up Tom.
See you all on Monday.

Thanks for asking about my daughter, Tom, but she's only 14 and a little shy around strangers, so it will just be me.

The personal buffet sounds great! I particularly like crab and shrimp, but I'm open for anything since I would really like to expand my Japansese/sushi horizons.
When in doubt, add more wine.

So far we have eleven committed and one maybe.

Looks like we maybe able to all sit together in the karaoke room.

Many thanks to Toki for offering a personal buffet. Gina and I are in favor of that option.

If there are no objections, I would like to contact Toki by tomorrow to confirm a personal buffet with restrictions/concerns noted in this thread.

I got Tom's message. 12 people on April 7th at 1:30pm in our karaoke room.
The one thing I did not confirm with you - was the price per person. Our buffet is $10.50. Is it OK with everyone if it is $12 per person. Dishes I am preparing for you take a little more time and food cost is more. If this is going to be a problem, I will make some changes. Please let me know and I apologize for not confirming with you first.

But I want to tell you that I am very excited to serving you and meeting you all.

I have no problem with the additional expense. I'm excited to try the dishes you will be making. Also looking forward to meeting you.
