Welcome!

by Robin Garr » Thu Mar 01, 2007 9:59 am

This is the new home-to-be of the LouisvilleHotBytes Forum. It looks quite different from the old, but it's more powerful and boasts a lot more bells and whistles. Make yourself at home, and let's fill 'er up with good food-and-drink talk!

If you have questions about how to use the forum, post them to this thread, and we'll figure out the answers together.

New Format

Might seem confusing to those who are used to the old site but I could get used to this!

Some quick tips

by Robin Garr » Thu Mar 01, 2007 11:54 am

1. To REPLY, click the QUOTE button.

If you don't want to back-quote the entire previous post, just delete all or part of the quoted material before you write your reply. Or click POST REPLY down at the bottom left of the thread to reply without a quote.

2. If you are using Firefox or Explorer 7, you'll see the familiar orange RSS icon up in your browser's address bar. If you know about RSS, you will realize how cool this is: You can "subscribe" to the forum and then be notified whenever there's a new post, and then click to it.

Hey everyone! Now that I see it, I actually participate in a number of forums that use this same format.

Easy.

This is very similar to my favorite board, Inside the Ville. I think the learning curve will be minimal and most people will love this format. By the way, does it have spell check? Tehee.

Fantastic! Add me to the rising tide of folks comfortable with this format. Once the growing pains are over, it'll be much easier to navigate.

I've never used this format before, but I'm guessing I will like it better. I just need to learn it/get used to it. Thanks, Robin!

I have this format on another forum I read, and it seems to work well. Thankfully I'm not blocked from work! :D

Very good, very good indeed......one question, will the "content" from the other forum be transfered to the new one?

That's the bad news. This is probably not practical.

However, just as we did with the old WineLovers forums when we moved, I'll keep the old forum online indefinitely in "read only" status, and link to it, so people can always go back and look up past discussions, restaurant reviews and tips.

And of course the main LouisvilleHotBytes site will remain unchanged.

At work.

by Doogy R » Thu Mar 01, 2007 2:07 pm

I doubt I'll be able to read this at work since our firewall blocks anything to do with alcohol. It may even block it because of the format this message board employs. What a shame. I even have to sneak around to find sports sites I have access to. It seems like they want me to do some constructive business while at work, or some nonsense such as that.

this is SO much nicer.

not that I'm opposed to doing things the Old School Way, but this is the format I'm accustomed to.
