Some good news about restaurants for a change!

by Mark R. » Tue Sep 20, 2022 2:06 pm

It was announced in business 1st a few minutes ago that Watch Hill Proper restaurant in Norton Commons doubled the size of their kitchen and our expanding their menu! Nice to see restaurants going this way for a change.

Here's the jest of the article: "Watch Hill Proper at 11201 River Beauty Loop in Norton Commons doubled the size of its kitchen from about 500 to 1,000 square feet. Executive Chef Michael Crouch said the extra space allowed him to include more of the modern cuisine with a classical French influence he is known for on the menu.

"Originally I was going to kind of lean towards small, shared bites when they brought me on," Crouch explained. "But a lot of people in [Norton Commons] and in the surrounding areas were looking for a place that was doing a little bit more elevated cuisine. No one was offering it, so that's kind of why we went that direction. It is kind of my specialty."

For those of you who have a subscription to business 1st or still have a free article left for this month, here's a link to the complete article: https://www.bizjournals.com/louisville/ ... 2022-09-20

Not heard of it before, looked interesting. I enjoyed reading the chef's quotes under each menu item. https://static1.squarespace.com/static/60154fd7cbc71f649daa83d8/t/6328be73fad564301c7fc637/1663614579375/whp-menu-sept+2022+Print.pdf

We hadn't heard of it before either but it certainly sounds interesting and it's definitely on the "To Try" list!

It's really good. If you liked Bistro 1860, you'll like this place. Same chef, and a lot of the same dishes.

I agree. Wasn't he also at Bourbon's Bistro at one point? Or am I just making that up?

I think Michael is an excellent chef, who for whatever reason operates more under the radar than a lot of the big names. But I'd definitely go for his food wherever he works.
