Brunch Recommendation in the Time of Covid

by Alanna H » Wed Feb 24, 2021 8:11 pm

I’m in KY for a few days and would like to meet up with a friend for brunch this Saturday. Cold rainy weather is not really conducive to eating outside, but I’m not comfortable dining in. I’m staying in Eminence with my daughter’s family and my friend is a college student so meeting at her place isn’t practical.
Are there any brunch places with heated igloos? If not brunch we can do another meal possibly. Just needs to be affordable, nothing fancy. East end is preferable.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Alanna, the only places I know of for sure with heated individual table igloos are Grassa Gramma and 8 Up. I'm afraid they're both open only fo dinner right now. :(

I think Le Moo is doing brunch and igloos.

Le Moo is definitely doing brunch:

BRUNCH
THURSDAY - SUNDAY
10 am - 3 pm

There's no mention of igloos on their website or social media that I can see, though. They repeatedly refer to a choice of " COVID-safe indoor dining or order online curbside carryout." It wouldn't surprise me. They've got plenty of space, and share owners with Grassa Gramma. But they're sure not bragging about it if they do.

Obviously the best approach would be to call Le Moo and ask. :)

They had igloos for sure a few months ago. We had a fantastic dinner in one.

Surely they still do, then! Funny they don't promote it, but that's their business. And you won't find a more savvy communications guy around town than Kevin Grainger, so ...

Thanks, Justin! You dug down far deeper than I had time to go, and I appreciate it.

Martini’s in the Paddock Shops (Summit) has igloos and a local owner/chef. https://www.martinilouisville.com/

Saturday forecast is in the 60 degree range, don't think you'll need an igloo.

The igloos at Le Moo are gone.

Maybe they've declared it spring? Thanks for the reporting anyway, Justin. I guess that explains why they didn't have any recent references on their social media.

Thanks for the suggestions, all! We ended up making use of heated patios. We had Martini's for brunch/lunch one day. I'm not an Italian fan, so I was kind of limited as to what I could get. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich, minus the cheese, with a side salad.
The chicken breast was very small, sad, bland, and dry. The garlic aioli was missing, so that made the sandwich even more dry. They were quick to bring a side of it when I asked.
We also had Great Flood Brewery in Middletown one day. I ordered the house-made pork rinds and spicy pimiento cheese. Hoooo boy, it was so good! I have been thinking about it non-stop for the past four days. I would return to Louisville just for that appetizer alone!
And of course I had to make a stop at Blaze, since it's my favorite pizza and we don't have it out here in Colorado.
