I got no deets, but I never did think it was a great fit for the Lentini's building.

Could this July 11 report have been a factor?

I can speak to this going back several years. I’ve eaten at Mimosa 3 times, once in the old building and twice in the new. Had roaches in my food or on my table ALL 3 times. This spans over 20 years. Of course, I haven’t been back in over a decade. If I had roaches EVERY time I went, I can’t be the only one who had issues there.

If I remember, around 35 years ago they were in the Mall/St. Matthews, and were the only place in town that had versions of Vietnamese and Thai food. We patronized them a lot, although the food was adequate at best.

Other places started to open, and Mimosa went on their own leaving the Mall. That's when we gave up, as they were pushing the eggroll factory concept, and the competition was better (food, service, cleanliness, et al).

Could be wrong, as this was a long time ago . . .

I hear you, Jerry! One thought, though: This is what the C rating is for. Sometimes I wish they would have a different rating for people who get dinged on one critical violation - something like leaving windex on a dining table or a fast-food sandwich that a dishwasher brought into the kitchen - that can be immediately corrected, but they still have to suffer the same bad publicity as a really dirty place like this.

It hasn't been good (or clean) in years. At least with Spinelli's, you know it's going to be gross going in.

After they closed, there was a note on the due about it being seized to financial issues -- possibly taxes, but I think it was rent. It explains why the place was (and still is) largely untouched inside, as if the owners were locked out on the spot.

Walked past it today and they were working on the interior, totally ripping the walls out in some spots. Hopefully that will take care of the crawly things. I think it's a good spot, should do well with some quality fare. Also in the area:

Closed: Stout Burgers, Himalayan Restaurant (like Brownie's before it in the same spot, didn't last long)

Open: The Public House, an Against the Grain offshoot in the Cumberland Brewery spot. Food is a week or two away, but ATG beers (among the best in the city, IMO) are on tap.

Dragon King's Daughter is expanding and moving into the space: https://www.courier-journal.com/story/n ... 535786001/

Looking forward to this- we were never Casfe Mimosa fans. The food was never very good, so we drive to China 1 for take-out chinese.

This location is great, and unusual for the Highlands they have ample parking.

I don't see how they can ever top the brief Italian-Vietnamese combo.

Does anyone remember that dessert they had at Lentini's, it was a 3 layers, white mousse, chocolate mousse, and chocolate cake. Best dessert ever!
