Does anyone out there actually like those terrible yet trendy restaurant chairs?

No. They have also been responsible for us not dining at certain establishments. Tough choices are made on where to spend dining dollars these days and leading at the top of the list is comfort. No matter how good your food and staff are, both can be wrecked by these chairs.

My only question: Are they really trendy or just that inexpensive?

One thing I've noticed . . . in several places they started with metal stools, and (it seemed) after customer complaints went to the metal chairs instead. While I also hate them, they are a LOT better than the stools!

I have two hip replacements. Sitting metal on metal is not one bit comfortable. I'm with Ed. These chairs have removed several restaurants from my rotation.

I concur - there have been establishments we have avoided due to these chairs, or worse yet, backless stools! If we're going to be uncomfortable, we're not likely to fully appreciate the food, so why spend the money. It can nearly ruin the dining experience.

The fact that Mojito in Havana kept the clunky metal chairs from Waylon's in the front room is my least favorite thing about that place. Thankfully, the main dining room contains regular bar stools and the booths, tables, and chairs from the old place.

Good to know, Nathaniel. Note to self: Go to back room.
