Welcome to the Louisville Restaurants Forum, a civil place for the intelligent discussion of the local restaurant scene and just about any other topic related to food and drink in and around Louisville.
I have a friend who moved here from Mexico City and is looking for a great, authentic Mexican restaurant. I saw someone recommend El Mariachi on here. Is that still a good pick?
El Mariachi is a good place, and so is El Molcajete on Fourth and Winkler. Really, just about any taqueria on the Preston strip in Okolona or Northern Boulevard in Clarksville will do ... or Chilakiles on National Turnpike. But El Mariachi and El Molcajete are two favorites.
Another favorite: La Lupita in Clarksville, which specializes in Oaxaca cuisine and seems to be a particular favorite of the Mexican migrant community.
What about Cravings Byanca over in Crestwood, across from South Oldham High? While only a carry out spot w a few picnic tables, you will be hard pressed to find more authentic Mexican street grub around town, in my opinion. Their food is fabulous, all of it!
I can second Craving Bianca as well. Food is delish and seems very authentic. I just keep forgetting that they are there. Now that summer is here I’m gonna hit them for dinner tonight!
