You can get bagel with cream cheese in NYC for $1.00. Give me a break.

I'm not sure that's a fair comparison. That takes me back to the old complaint that you can buy a steak at Krogers for $2, so where does Jeff Ruby get off selling you one for $80.

Would seem, though, that the $3.00 you’d save would be quickly offset by the expense of getting to NYC.

Yeah, I can forgive the bagel and cream cheese pricing but $9 for Greek yogurt? I’m thinking it’s coming from a 2 pound tub in the back. Or maybe it’s a local dairy and it’s organic, or made from local goats milk. Then I’d understand.
I guess everybody draws a line somewhere.

Ha! They must be really special bagels then. I guess I just fit the socioeconomic mold of River rd dining.

Actually, thinking out loud, I haven't been to NYC for the past few years, but I'm not positive that you could get a bagel with a schmear for only a buck. Can anybody testify?

I can say that my favorite bagel place on Long Island is $2.50 for a bagel w/plain cream cheese and $3.25 for flavored cream cheese.

That's not far off from my memory of our favorite bagel places in Astoria and around my office in Midtown back in the '90s. I'm sure there's been some inflation since then, but a buck for a bagel with cream cheese to sit down and eat in? Not the NYC I remember.

That's practically in Suffolk County!

Looks like it's going to be $1.70 for a $1 bagel with $0.70 cream cheese, though. Still, I wish I had one on my plate right now.

This menu with those prices looks like a hotel room service menu. Only I'm not trapped in a hotel, and they won't be bringing food to my room.
