The Hall on Washington St.

We stopped in on Sat. for a beer and a snack and were very satisfied. We split the Wurst platter and found all the food to be delicious. The space is very modern, wide open, and well done.

I’m not German but would love to try some real German fare. Would you say this was a good example to try for authenticity?

Probably not and definitely not an "authentic" vibe.

https://www.gasthausdining.com/ - I'd guess this is the closest spot we have for authentic German.

Justin is certainly spot on with his nod to Gasthaus. If you want authentic German, that's the closest thing in town by far. And easily one of my favorite restaurants in town.
While I've not been to the Hall yet (just heard about it this weekend), a scan of their menu suggests more of a wurst haus. Think German pub fare.

It certainly looks like a fine addition to the downtown food options, and to the general ethnic food scene. Judging by the photos and menu, it seems like they crafted it to appeal to a broader clientele while still maintaining a German motif.

As for German fare, the German-American Club also offers German food at its monthly biergarten. Its actually a pretty interesting gig worth checking out if you're craving some German culture/food/beer.

I’ve tried Gasthause several times and my timing or day of the week was always off. Then I forgot about them. I’ll give it another try.
Is the general public welcomed at the monthly event at the German- American club.?

Yes, anyone can go to the biergarten. They also have special events, e.g. Oktoberfest, where the food is an important element.
