Sunday Dining Downtown Louisville

by Robert Cole » Tue Dec 04, 2018 6:59 pm

We will be in Louisville for one night, Sunday 12/9. I've entered said date on the forum but can only find older posts. We are treating ourselves to the Seelbach hotel. We prefer to stay close to downtown, but could uber a bit.

Seafood and lamb are our go-to entrees. However, we love homemade pasta, and are open to any interesting or innovative dishes. I realize that leaves our preferences rather broad--ranging from creative bar food to a more formal (but not stuffy) atmosphere.

Thank you,
Robert

I thought Bar Vetti was wonderful pasta. Also had a brilliant trout while we there but it’s been several months. It’s in the 800 building downtown.

Tons of seafood and innovative dishes, short Uber from downtown and one of the best restaurants in the city.

Jack Fry's does Sunday dinner and the lamb chops are my favorite.

I'm pretty sure Bar Vetti is closed on Sundays.

Was going to suggest Marketplace or Bar Vetti, but both are closed Sundays :-(
You definitely can't go wrong with Seviche.

Since lamb is one of your staples, then Saffron's has to be on your list. It's just a short walk from your hotel. Their rack of lamb is probably the best around. They also offer a braised lamb shank which is top notch. I have not been in awhile so it may be worth a call to make sure those items are available when you plan on visiting.

They also have some seafood options that I like. YMMV.

Sunday's are rough downtown, as not much is open. I would agree that Seviche would be my first choice, but if staying downtown is a must, some of the seafood dishes at Doc Crow's are very solid. The Shrimp & Grits are one of my favorites and the Blackened Tilapia is good as well.
