Papa John's files for a new logo

by Robin Garr » Mon Sep 24, 2018 9:45 am

Papa John's has filed application to trademark a new logo, distancing itself from the old brand. I'm not sure it's likely to win any awards for great design, but it's a start. :)

Wow. That's pretty ugly. Matches what they serve and call pizza.

I saw a smart ad, where they showcased all of the people that really are 'Papa John's.' Brilliant. Change the name and keep this sort of thing up- people will understand.

Good for them for the rebranding effort but....yeah....that logo is lame. Like, why didn’t someone stop them?

A guy who worked there in the '90s said on the HotBytes FB page that Papa's actually floated that logo back in the '90s. Maybe they're just not trademarking it for some reason. ??

Surely they wouldn't actually use that. Retro it ain't.

If they are going to rebrand, they really need to do it extensively, not just take away the ' and go to that terrible looking idea for a logo. I'm actually not so sure the whole thing about getting rid of Papa himself isn't just a result of an internal struggle in the company. Some reports I've read about what he said were that he was only repeating something that somebody else said previously (I read who but I forget right now). I'm early like their pizzas anyway I really don't care about what happens to them but it's a shame to see a large recognized brand like that struggling.

I can imagine this logo on a box of generic frozen pizza at Sam's Club.
