Poll II: Would Indi's or Chix King be your first choice

by Robin Garr » Thu Aug 09, 2018 9:21 am

So you want fried chicken in Louisville, and you face a ton of options, from Indi's to Yummy Pollo to Royal's or Joella's or Kaelin's or KFC or what have you. Would Indi's or Chicken King be among your top choices, or would you go elsewhere?

Does Yummy Pollo do fried chicken? I thought they were rotisserie only.

I personally think Chicken King is the best in the city. Wings, wedges, bean soup! Also dont forget to get a fried pork chop sandwich for the ride home.

Oh, hell, you're right, Justin. Same for Rosticeria Luna. Still, I'm going to throw Latino roast chicken into the same basket of deliciables because crispy and juicy and delicious.

The fried chicken (nuggets and bone-in) at Chik'n & Mi is legit.

It is good chicken, but taken as a whole - and I've given it three tries - Chik'n & Mi has just plain failed to impress me. I want to like it better. :(

I think it depends on what my expectations are. If I want something a little more upscale, Indi's isn't going to cut it, but if I just want some down and dirty, good ol' fried chicken with potato wedges and greens, it's Indi's for sure.

I voted "something else" for this reason alone.

If you are going to throw around "the best fried chicken in the city" moniker, you better not forget about Dasha Barbour's Southern Bistro. While the service is sometimes slow, their fried chicken is at or very near the top of the list, in my opinion. And the sweet potato casserole is like straight gold!

I am afraid to walk into Indi's, as the place always feels like it needs to be pressure washed and sanitized, but maybe it is just me. It just never seems to be clean.

Dasha Barbour's is definitely a winner. Good one!

Dixie Chicken (locations way out on Preston and on Dixie Highway) is a contender. Louie's Hot Chicken on Newburg is our current fave, though.

Extra credit if you place your order through bulletproof glass.

Sorry to burst your balloon but the Preston location of Dixie Chicken has been gone at least 2 years in fact the place that replaced it has already closed as well. Don't know anything about the Dixie Highway location.

Not to pick on you, Richard :) but isn't Louie's on Poplar Level, former Lolita's Tacos?

Aren't Chicken King & Indi's of the same ownership?
