History of Chinese Food: Crane House

by Marybeth B » Sun May 06, 2018 10:26 pm

Hi, all, I work at the Asia Institute-Crane House, Louisville's Asian cultural center. We have a food event coming up. It will be the first one in our new community room and the first one after our newly redone kitchen. (You won't notice that the kitchen has been redone, but I know our chefs will be thrilled. The old one was challenging.)

On Friday, May 18 from 6-8p, the Asia Institute-Crane House will be hosting an illustrated talk by archaeologist Bob Jones about the history of Chinese food. After the talk, there will be a tasting of several of the types of food covered, including noodles, dumplings, and kabobs. There will also be something made with lotus root and a dessert.

Our Facebook event page (https://www.facebook.com/events/356932441467948/) and our ticket page (https://www.z2systems.com/np/clients/cranehouse/event.jsp?event=5&) have more information. The event is $15 per person, or $10 for AICH members.

Because we have been redoing out kitchen for a good portion of the time I've worked there, I haven't been to a food event like this yet so I can't say from experience what to expect. I do know that several of our long-time members booked their tickets as soon as they heard about it, so I'm taking that as a sign it will be both interesting and tasty!

Thank you, Robin, for letting me post this!
