Afro-German Tea Room and others

Tonight at Cooking at the Cottage we have a demo class titled "Remembering the Afro-German Tea Room". Porcini's Chef John Plymale used to work there as a young cook and will be revisiting a few of their classic recipes.

What other "gone-but-not-forgotten" restaurants do you think folks would be interested in reminiscing about? We'd like to add a few more classes to this idea and make it a series!

Casa Grisanti? A ton of chefs and FOH people came out of there, so there's be plenty of folks probably eager to participate.

Kunz's? I'll bet Linda could make that happen. :D

Corbett's? Too soon?

We really hope that Chef John will repeat the Afro-German Tea Room class! It was one of our favorite restaurants but unfortunately we had another commitment tonight :( . Other suggestions: Ed Garber of the old 610; Steve Coomes or others at 6th Avenue; Commadore Tea Room (not sure who the chef was?) and, of course, Kunz's :D !!!

I loved The Fig Tree- I used to take my ,mother for lunch every month or so.
Does anyone remember the wonderful French bakery Ed Garber opened on Washington St? It was open very very late so you could go to the bars and drop in for an onion tart or pastry- it was wonderful.

I think revisiting some of the classics from Stewart's Tea Room would be fun.

I think this could be a restaurant concept or pop up?
I had suggested that the Gardens could be made into a restaurant 'museum'. Set up a small automat. Have an old tavern from early America. Feature a different American region menu each month. Include a menu from past Louisville restaurants. Farmers Market. Louisville proud products.
KFC, PJ, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, Texas Roadhouse in a food court for visitors who don't care for the other fare. (They would be helping support the 'museum'.
Rotating exhibits of dishes? Menus?
So much potential.
If not the Gardens, somewhere else?
(Bourbon doesn't have to be included but I guess people would expect that.)
