Another Creek restaurant closing (Smokehouse)

by MarieP » Mon Jan 29, 2018 10:29 pm

Smokehouse BBQ is boarded up and for rent.

Had not eaten there in quite some time, but it was always enjoyable!

Sorry to read this...I live too far away from that area to be a frequent guest, but when visiting my brother in deep Fern Creek, I would stop in...never was disappointed.

Sad news, Marie, but thanks for posting. The restaurant business is tough. :(

They changed hands and it was never the same. Went down hill.

It was very good and fine service with the original owners. Went often.

Honestly , it wasn't the greatest location.

But , as other people said , it happened more because of people than places.

For those who never make it out that way its worth noting that the future SouthPointe Commons shopping center is finally being cleared out. Its about 40 acres at Bardstown and the Gene Snyder that's supposedly modeled along the lines of The Paddocks on Brownsboro. Shops and restaurants haven't been announced yet. This development will likely be positive for the foodie scene in Fern Creek if its done right.

- SouthPointe Commons -

I've noticed them clearing out that area for a couple months and am looking forward to it. Like You said , it'll be good for the area ; there's really nothing out here to speak ...

The only thing I'm really afraid in reference to this new place is the traffic. We can barely hold it together with everything at the moment. I have NO idea about the coming problems. Still, I look forward to having more than a Waffle House and Outback Steakhouse as food choices (Yes,I know there are a couple more ; You get the point)

No doubt about the traffic concern. They have infrastructure built into the plan, but we'll see. Clearance has entered a new phase these last 2 weeks and one can hardly recognize the place now. So there is no turning back.

My take us that if it lives up to expectations, it could be a positive game changer. If not?........ugh...
