"Trophy's" Sports Bar -La Grange

by Steve P » Tue Oct 24, 2017 8:03 pm

For those of us in the northern hinterlands - or those in the metro who make a wrong turn in Anchorage and find yourself in La Grange...Trophy's Sports Bar is worth a visit. It's in the "Old" Beef O'Brady's location (behind Applebee's) on Rt 53....Which for those of you who don't get "outside the Watterson" on a regular basis is on a bearing of 056 degrees for 17.87 miles from the "Old Sears Building". The restaurant is owned/operated by Gustavo Reyes of "Gustavo's" Mexican Restaurant fame (Prospect, Crestwood, LaGrange)...Gustavo has been "in the business" for many years and runs a nice ship - Service is spot on, The menu (available on Facebook) is a full notch maybe notch and a half north of most local "Sports bars" (Brownies, Rooties, BW3, etc, etc). The beer is cold and there is -something- for everyone's taste - from PBR for the Hipsters, to several (draft and bottle) craft beers. The wings in particular are AWESOME, some of the best I've had in Louisville (I liked them better than Rooties). Anyway - Give Trophy's a shout if you're in our neighborhood.

A buddy of mine went there a couple of weeks ago and also raved about the wings and said it was very solid above sports bar level food. Since we live out in the counties now, definitely going to give it a look.

Does the sign out front have "Scare" "Quotes" on it?

Just curious how "Trophy's" differs from Trophy's.

I think it's a question of plural vs possessive. Is the owner's name Trophy or is it supposed to reference multiple trophies won? There used to be a spa on Bardstown Rd named Sensation's. I was always tempted to call and ask for Sensation.

I’ve been hankerin’ for some good wings. I’ll try them out if my car doesn’t go onto auto drive and take me to Big R and Shannon’s instead.
