I guess it's too much to hope this was a fan of the movie "Five Easy Pieces"? (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0065724/quotes?item=qt0274366)

When I was living in France a coworker came over after just completing a French class in the 1st day we went out for lunch he ordered Steak Tartare "well done"! I had to explain to him that I think he ordered a meatloaf.

I hostessed during the height of the no carb craze and ran plates with burgers with lettuce for buns but extra fries and pasta dishes without the pasta. Of course, these folks would have multiple beers and glasses of wine with their "carb" free dinners.

However, my favorite story to this day was when I worked at the Winn Dixie a long time ago. It is one of my first experiences with "the customer is always right." A woman was irate that she had paid big bucks for fancy vanilla ice cream and it had molded. She returned it because it was covered in black dots. I was about to explain to her it was the vanilla beans when my assistant manager jumped in and offered her TWO gallons of the beige colored vanilla of her choice.

I get the occasional order for dishes with "nothing green" on them. And they mean it. Doesn't matter what the green thing is, they don't want it.

I once stood in line at Central Grocery in New Orleans while the woman in front of me berated the guy behind the counter because they didn't serve a muffaletta made with roast beef.
