Best New Table In Town

Let's face it, Louisville is Foodie Nirvana! You want it, we got it! And it's the gift that just keeps on giving!

Now, it is no secret that I have my old haunts that I can't live without! However, with the abundance of new tables in town, which one is your new "my God, where have you been all my life"?

Criteria: A year or less in business and chef driven.

I've got two that pop in my mind....Mirin and Gospel Bird.....how about you?
If life's a Banquet, what's with all the Tofu?

Cheers!

Mirin for sure, Bill! Red Hog. Ciao. Portage House. Is Fat Lamb less than a year old? Yes to Gospel Bird, and Brooklyn and the Butcher. Don't forget memorable ethnic spots ... Nahyla's Venezuelan, Tikka House.

Justin's mention of Chik'n & Mi, which is worthy, reminds me of Mirin, which is even more worthy. :)

I agree, Jeff, except that I had ramen at Chik'n & Mi, and that particular dish wasn't even close to Mirin's core competency. But everything else was very good. Definitely both are keepers.

Hey Robin, apologies for a slight side-track, but have you tried the ramen at Lydia House? I'm curious as to how it compares to Mirin's.

I need to get to Lydia House ... it's not a place I would have thought of for ramen, as a matter of fact. Is it one of their main dishes?

Yes, and while I've not had it, I've read and heard good things about it. They have bone broth as well as mushroom miso versions. Pictures look good. I need to get back there and give it a go and then head over to Mirin to do the same (on another day, of course :D ). I was certainly a fan of Rumplings.

Lydia House is fantastic.

Thanks for the Mirin love, all! We work hard and have improved by leaps and bounds since your last visit, Robin. It's not even close to be honest.

Mirin and Lydia House are both great! We've been to Lydia House more often since we live nearby, and have mostly had brunch and sandwiches. I had the special at Lydia House the other day -- ramen in coconut peanut sauce -- and liked it a lot. I am not a ramen connoisseur at all, but my impression was that Mirin was more of a classic take. I really liked their dumpling appetizer.
