A friend said this is true.

He used to work there and is now a regular there, so I trust him as a source.

We were there last night and heard the same thing. They have not put renewal notices in the mugs. Sad but after the longtime employees/bartenders either left or were fired it just wasn't the same anymore. It was our "Cheers" bar for a long time.

I heard they sold the property and it's going to become a country & western bar. No joke.

It was such a good place in its first try, I'm sure the incarnation will be great. If they couldn't survive drawing in out-of-towners
I'm not sure how they think they can survive trying to get locals to become repeat customers!

Wow...I worked downtown in the Meidinger Tower until I retired at the end of 2008, and of all the pretty much forgettable restaurants in the original 4SL, Sully's was the worst, in my opinion.

Okay, I've checked in with Dave Pierce at BBC, and the best I can get is a non-denial and a promise to let us know when there's something to let us know.

Thanks Robin. It was our cheers bar. Mike and I went there 3 or 4 times a week. Traveled with them. Sad memories of those who passed

What?? I really hope this isn't true. It's my dad and I's lunch go to. Maybe it's time to get IN to the restaurant business as so many are getting out it appears.

Meanwhile, this just in from Drinking Liberally ("DL"), a social political conversation group that has met at BBC on Thursday evenings for years:
:(

Hey, Peeps!

I'll bet that Donald Trump is behind this, but Drinking Liberally this Thursday will be located at the St. Matthews Bluegrass Brewing Company for the last time. We will have discussion there about ideas for where to move it, but the word on the street is that this is the last Thursday they will be open.

Personally I've never been impressed with their food - and their beer has been hit-and-miss with me....BUT...They are a local icon/favorite so I feel badly for those of you who have been long time patrons. It's hard to lose a landmark.

Thanks for the kind words Steve. When was the last time you darkened our door?

A little trivia for ya regarding the location that BBC will be leaving...

What was the name of the restaurant that operated in this location just prior to BBC (this should not be difficult for members here)..

Then part 2...what noted local company owned the prior to BBC concept (probably a little harder than part 1)?

I'm figuring someone will have the answers within a few hours...Robin, if you know both, please hold off and give others a chance.
