Chiropractor Recs?

by Dan Thomas » Tue Nov 29, 2011 11:20 am

I've never been a big believer in chiropractors. But now that it appears that I have a pinched nerve in my neck and my back is in a constant dulling pain that makes me nauseous, I'm willing to give anything a try.
I'm looking for someone to give me an adjustment. I'm really against going to one that's is going to try to put me on some sort of "program". I would rather go on an "as needed" basis.

Dano,

I highly recommend Dr. Tim Wisdom at Wisdom Chiropractic 7400 East Kilgus Circle Crestwood, KY 40014-9447 (502) 241-1499

http://www.wisdomchiropractic.com/

I've been seeing Chiropractors off and on for back issues for years and Dr. Tim is one of the best. A real laid back guy who will have ya back up and running a lot faster than you might think possible.

Annemarie, let me guess...You went to see Patrick Lowe at Lowe Chiropractic on Shelbyville Rd ? If not then despite your troubles you missed out on being treated by THE biggest ambulance-chasing-treatment-selling-underhanded dickweed to ever hang a shingle.. BTW, while I respect your opinions and have no doubt things occurred as you describe them, I have personally benefited from chiropractic solutions wayyyyyyy to often in the past to write off the entire profession. There are bad eggs in every line of work and it sounds like you found one.

Dan,

I used Randy Wheeler at Westport Chiropactic and was pleased with his work. He is in the same shopping center as LAC.

As a result of a bad case of Plantar Fasciitis, I ended up limping around for over a year, which caused scar tissue/pain in my leg, hip and lower back. He treated the joints, but also did some soft tissue work to break up the scar tissue.

Mary will testify with equal enthusiasm for Tim's bride Kathy, in the same practice, who - she swears - healed her allergies by manipulating her jaw in a way that apparently cleared a sinus blockage. Sounds weird to me, but I know Mary doesn't have the pollen allergy issues that she used to have. Two thumbs up.

Do you plan to take legal action or any other kind of action, or just walk away from it?

Contact Dr. Robert Matts at Full Circle Chiropractic, in Prospect (228-5552)...you can see him as needed, or he'll place you on a schedule of regular visits if your condition requires it.

Any updates or thoughts? Somewhere along the line, I got old, and my back tells me every day. Now it's telling my left hip that it's not allowed to move in a north-south direction. I'm kinda scared, actually, as this pain became so much more a part of my life in the past month. I wanted to be a chef, private chef, caterer, or something for so long, but these past few years told me a standing job can no longer be an option. I even LIKE waiting tables, but I don't think I could ever do it again. Back says no. I just wanna be able to stand to make meals for my husb and fam! Sooo.... Chiro, exercises, or other suggestions?

Oops, I responded to this on Facebook, Kim, but might as well testify to Dr. Kathleen Wisdom in Crestwood here as well. We learned of her through a HotBytes connection, and Mary went to her specifically for sinus allergies, something that i would never have imagined a chiropractor could do. (!) But she worked a miracle, and since then we've both consulted her for the occasional age-related twinge, from back to knees. Highly recommended. She's kind, intelligent and thoughtful, asks the right questions and explains what she's doing and why. Accepts insurance, and her rates seem very reasonable.

She was in practice with her husband, Tim, who sadly died young a couple of years ago; now his brother Rodney works with her. I'm sure they're all good, but we can particularly testify for Kathleen.

The address is Kilgus Circle, but the clinic actually faces KY 146 (LaGrange Road) between Pewee Valley and Crestwood, not far before you get to the railroad crossing and KY 22 intersection at Crestwood.

My golfer wife has low back issues from time to time and swears by Dr. Matt Ehrhard. (502) 416-0161

However, I got her a Teeter Hang Ups inversion table for her birthday last month and she is absolutely in love with the thing. Uses it once or twice a day for only a few minutes. Says her back hasn't felt this good for years. She also has a knee issue requiring a brace when on her feet for extended periods, and says the inversion has helped that a lot, too. So far, its the best $240 I've ever spent at Costco.

I'm anxious to see how the Teeter does for her during next golf season.

(Note: Anyone considering a Teeter should check for used ones on Craigslist, etc. Doesn't seem like much could go wrong or wear on one and saving the money and assembly time would be well worth it. I don't know about off-brands -- some look less sturdy.)
My memory's not as sharp as it used to be.
