Where to buy scallops

by Alanna H » Sat May 02, 2015 5:21 pm

I just recently discovered the deliciousness of scallops and would like to attempt cooking some at home *gulp*. I've never bought or cooked seafood before and don't know the best place to purchase it. Kingleys? Or an actual seafood shop? The recipe calls for sea scallops, not bay scallops. Any recommendations where to get them, and what a fair price is?

The Fresh Market either store, Taylorsville at Moser or Brownsboro at I-264.

Ask for them FROZEN. You can let them thaw when you are ready to cook them. Of of need be, put them in a pan of cold water for about 20 minutes.

Consider also Highland Seafood in Middletown; I think Highland has also taken over the old Seafood Connection in Chenoweth Square, across from Majid's and Paul's.

Whole Foods also has pretty good seafood.

Hi! I have actually purchased frozen scallops from Kroger and was very pleased with them. Good texture, well cleaned and sweet fresh taste.

Bon appetite!
