Hickory Nuts

by Tom K » Wed Dec 03, 2014 10:42 am

Does anyone know where I can purchase Hickory Nut meats? My brother, who bakes nothing else, has a cookie recipe that call for hickory nuts, and I'd like to surprise him with some for Christmas.

Tom, I haven't seen them, although I wonder if the recently deceased Nuts N Stuff might have had them.

If a local search fails, the Nuts.com website appears to sell them, along with all manner of other nuts, either shelled or in the shell:

Thanks Robin. I already called them. They do not have any hickory nuts. I found two other sources last week on the internet, but neither has replied to multiple messages. Starting to lose hope.

The Old Taylor Place subdivision, out in Goshen on US 42 just past Goshen Lane, has (or used to have) tons of mature hickory trees in its western side, closest to Goshen Lane. Maybe drive out there on a weekend day and ask some friendly neighbors if you can pick through their lawns?

My go to source is Oh! Nuts.com. I have ordered many times and their products are exceptional. However, no hickory nuts. There are several sellers on Ebay.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I tried ebay, but gave up when they reached $40/lb. I sent him black walnuts instead.
