Columbus with family

We are going to be taking a 4 day trip to Columbus with our 10 year old soon. Our hotel is in Dublin, but we will be all over Columbus and looking for some great spots to check out. We'll probably spring for one white table cloth dinner, the rest will be casual. We also have Lion King tickets so could use a recommendation near the Ohio Theater.

Any recommendations?

Thanks,
Deb

For your nice dinner, I would suggest G. Michael's Bistro & Bar in Germantown (http://gmichaelsbistroandbar.com/). We used to have family in Columbus, and had a number of very good meals there. The Refectory (http://www.therefectoryrestaurant.com/) and M at Miranova (part of the Cameron Mitchell group - http://www.matmiranova.com/) are also good options.

Also, just stroll around the Short North neighborhood. Lots of great casual places and shops there.

Have fun. I think Columbus is a very under-appreciated city that's done a great job of revitalizing downtown and surrounding neighborhoods.

Thanks, Justin! We went last week, stayed in Dublin and visited the corn and Leatherface you mentioned. We also went to see their Dancing Rabbits Sculpture which we found really cool- 20-25 foot tall rabbits with lots of recycled objects embedded in the bronze. Rounded things out with a trip to The Book Loft in their cute Germantown- local bookstore with 30 rooms of every book imaginable. :D We also went to Jeni's Splendid twice ( yum!!) and brought back a couple of pints with dry ice, only to find out that Whole Foods Louisville now carries flavors.

We were in the Science museum and zoo ( both great!) so long that we only had two dinners out. The Dublin Village Tavern had a great pub vibe and happy hour, but the food while very good wasn't up to Rover standards from my point of view. For pre-theater we ate at Manifesto Tuscan- practically next door to the Columbus Theater. This one was a great find for pre-theater/downtown- mostly small plates with a cool atmosphere and very prompt and friendly service. Everything we had was very good. Their North Market ( indoor food market) downtown was a great source for food and related items; there are numerous stalls selling everything from Indian, to speciality pretzels, jewish deli, Vietnamese , etc. Great place for lunch ( and a local beer). My fave food find, however was Pistascia Vera http://www.pistaciavera.com/- a lovely bakery /coffee shop with wonderful dessers and french macarons. :D
