I think I'm a bit late to help Lora, but I'll respond anyway as I've been to Nashville half a dozen times over the last year for business.
City House (
http://cityhousenashville.com/) was our go-to, but our last visit there was very underwhelming, unfortunately. It could have just been an off night.
One of the best meals I've had in years was at Etch a few months ago (
http://etchrestaurant.com/). Really outstanding, creative food, a great atmosphere, and some of the most friendly, helpful service ever.
I ate at Husk (
http://www.husknashville.com/), Sean Brock's new Nashville iteration of his popular Charleston, SC restaurant, and it was pretty good. It's been super-hyped up since it opened a month or two ago, so I was expecting more. The food was quite good, just not outstanding. Service was not-so-good, but the space is beautiful. It kind of reminds me of Corbett's, being in a renovated old home.
Finally, Rolf and Daughters (
http://rolfanddaughters.com/) is all the rage right now, but I haven't been yet.
