Looking for advice for an upcoming trip to Charleston. There's quite a few places on my radar but I'm not sure how to integrate them. I'm definitely doing a Sean Brock day with Husk for lunch and McCrady's for dinner. I'd love to know some of your favorite spots as well.

I'd also like suggestions regarding which beaches to visit, attractions, etc.

Your help is very much appreciated! Thanks.

I highly recommend the Fat Hen. It's off the beaten track, but it's wonderful!

We also had a very special and wonderful meal at Hall's Chophouse. We went last year. It was the number one restaurant in Charleston (according to Trip Advisor) then, and it still is today. http://hallschophouse.com/ We still talk about that meal!

FYI: Husk is set to open in Nashville in the near future

I was re-reading some of my reviews of Charleston restaurants and thought I'd mention La Fontana. It's an unassuming little Italian restaurant located on a busy street near several strip malls, but it's actually quite good. If you go, be sure to get the cannoli. You must have the cannoli!

Charleston is awesome! Plenty of good eats! Hominy Grill is one of those places that you see on the food TV shows a lot that actually lives up to the hype. Husk does too but there are other places that are just as good that don't get talked about as much like High Cotton and Peninsula Grill.

There is lot's to see and do too! They have a really nice aquarium. Across the bridge in N. Charleston there are several naval ships on display and open to explore at Patriot's Point including the USS Yorktown, an old WWII aircraft carrier. The ferry ride out to Ft. Sumter is nice too.
There are lot's of tour options as well. My wife and I are history buffs and really enjoyed both of the walking tours we took. As far as beaches go, Kiawah Island is probably the best beach in S. Carolina and about 20 minutes south.

One tip; Parking absolutely sucks downtown. If you find a parking spot anywhere, grab it and be prepared to walk everywhere. And if you are going in the summer, even though it is on the coast it gets Africa Hot there.

Went to the Hominy Grill last year, was absolutely wonderful. Had the Chicken Livers, crowder peas, fried grit cakes. The boiled peanuts were great. Definitely "Lowcountry" Cuisine.

Thanks all! I'm really looking forward to all the cuisine and the charm of the city - it's softshell crab season right now!
