Need new supplier for glass "jelly jars"

by Lois Mauk » Sat Oct 17, 2009 8:23 pm

I'm a chandler -- candlemaker. I've been making candles for almost 10 years. For a number of years, I've been very fortunate to have a supplier here in Louisville where I could get my glass jars and most of my fragrance oils. This has saved me a fortune on shipping costs. I was shocked this week to discover that my supplier has CLOSED! No warning. No notice to existing customers. They just closed up shop. They're still in business but the only location is now 6 hours away.

Do any of you know of any Louisville businesses who sell wholesale glass jars? My preferred container is an 8-oz. smooth sided "jelly jar".

Thanks!

It was 100% accidental, but I found a local supplier of jelly jars and lids!

Container & Packaging Supply, Inc. is out of Eagle, Idaho, but their Fulfillment Center is . . . guess where? Bluegrass Industrial Park in Louisville, KY.

Wish me luck. I ordered a full gross of jars and will pick them up (no shipping!) in a couple of days.

Good deal, Rachel. I've been buying from these folks for years now. I recommend them highly.

Lois,

Do they sell in smaller amounts too, or do you have to buy the gross? Good to know these sources for Xmas food gifting. :D

There is a $10 surcharge for small orders under $50 but, otherwise, no minimum order. I'm picking up a half dozen cases of jars and lids tomorrow. Could have gotten them the same day but didn't have time to run out to the East End to pick them up today.

It worked great for me - making lots of jars of goodies for holiday gifts. Ordered online and chose "Will Call" option and got a phone call a day or two later that is was ready for pickup. I'll definitely use them again!

I'm so glad! A note for future reference, on my most recent order, I couldn't do a "will call" pickup here in Louisville because of the lids I ordered not being in stock locally. Changed the lids to a different item and no problem.

I've been very happy with Container & Packaging Supply for several years now.
