Furniture re-upholstery, chair caning, etc.

by Charles W. » Mon Aug 06, 2012 8:19 am

Any recommendations on places to get furniture re-upholstered, and chairs re-caned and repaired? We want it done well, but we don't need someone who will match the cane to revolutionary war patterns

Charles,

I've heard good things about Spindletop on Shelbyville Road from my folks (they've had a number of things upholstered there).

Thanks, Deb. I hadn't seen that one.

The two I've found on the web are Excel Shop and St. Matthew's Trim and Upholstery.

All I can find is Spindletop draperies on Bardstown, and I don't find anything about furniture there. Is there another?

So sorry, Charles-I may having been posting under the influence. ( I'm recovering from very minor surgery). I left a message for my Mom to verify the name.

doing a search on google.com for upholstery louisville ky

Gave me 15 good results on the first page.

one of them was Best of Kentucky who I did some work for years ago. They had made some absolutely beautiful chair back covers for Brown-Forman and the company I was with did monogramming them.

I'm Lou Stein. Thanks for visiting my site. Chair Caning Master is located in New Albany, Indiana. Just across the Ohio River from Louisville, Kentucky.

And a total of 9 others on first page.

Charles,

Heard back from my Mom. I was way off base- except that it's on Shelbyville road. My Mom used the upholsterer recommended by "Details" on Shelbyville Road. Said he was reasonable and good. She doesn't have his card anymore; she suggess you call them to ask for his name.

Sorry not to be of more help-

If Best is Jay Best, he is very good and reasonable (but not cheap).

I too can vouch for Jay and Pamela Best at Best of Kentucky Upholstery located in the Goss Ave antique mall. You can reach them at 636-0531.
