My son has been treated by two doctors at the Eye Care Institute in Butchertown. He has seen Dr. Meyer and Dr. Murphy. My son (20 y/o at the time) was shot in the eye with a bb gun. The bb did not enter his eye, but ricocheted around before stopping behind his eye. His eye was severely damaged. He ended up having 3 surgeries, just to save his eye.

But even if you have not been shot in the eye with a bb, I still highly recommend this office.

Thanks Pam- I hope your son is doing OK.
Luckily I stay pretty far away from speeding projectiles.
I appreciate the info- and it's close to home.

Dr. Gaddie? I have his email address if you need it :-). If I had to have anything done to my eyes, and he was not offering the services I was looking for, I would at least ask his advise. I can contact him if you want - he cured my pink eye pro bono once!

Gary, I've been very happy with Kathy Newton in The Springs Medical Center on Dutchmans Lane. Nice people and not the kind of practice that feels like an assembly line. I'll change doctors to avoid that.

That said, I see her only for eye exams and glasses prescription. I believe her specialty is cornea, if you're looking for something specific.

Thanks Robin that sounds good. I like small offices.
Jackie- is he a real DR? For some reason I always thought that was a bit of an honorific.

So I should put the disclaimer that I work in the eye care field (Lasik). We refer people to Dr. Mark Cassol for anything medical. I've worked in office with him before (because he at one time did Lasik for our Lexington office) and I will say he's one of the nicest, most complete Drs. I've ever met. His office is right in St. Matthews 127 Fairfax Avenue. You can reach him at 502-938-3937. He has evening hours as well. He does routine opthalmolgy and various surgeries like cataract and can manage glaucoma, etc.

I'll second Pam G's recommendation for Dr. Meyer the Eye Care Institute on Story Ave.

I saw Dr. Meyer last year, and found him to be professional, knowledgeable, thorough, and takes the time to answer any questions you might have. And he tends to show rated up at the top of the lists of opthamologists.

I've seen Dr. Singal at Bennett & Bloom, and have been very satisfied.
