Pretzel Rolls

by Steve P » Mon Mar 12, 2012 7:07 pm

Revisiting an old thread in case there is new/additional info...Anyone know where I can get Klaus (OR other) pretzel rolls ? I prefer somewhere "outside the Watterson" as I am loath to drive all the way into town for 6 or 8 rolls.

Steve,
Are you a Costco member? They had little one's there yesterday. While not as good as Klaus, with an egg brush and a sprinkle of Kosher salt they'd be very good.

Yep, I'm a Costco member...I'm actually looking for "Burger" sized rolls but could make do with the small mammer-jammers in a pinch. Anyone else ?

I've seen the burger sized rolls at Whole Foods, but I've never bought any. It was probably 3 or 4 months ago since I last shopped there, so you might call to check if they still carry them.

Have you tried Ermin's? They have a store near Butcher's Best. Give them a call and see if they have them at the Prospect store, if not they may be able to get some from the main store for you if they are making them right now.

I know you said "outside the Watterson," so that probably means you knew Nuts N Stuff carries the Klaus rolls. Long way to drive for a few rolls, for sure, and you have to get that pesky passport stamped. :)

We ended up with multi-grain Ciabatta rolls from Fresh Market (barely inside the Watterson) and I'm glad we did. They had that "Everything Bagel" taste to them which really complimented our homemade Brat-Burgers...without that "Gut Bomb" explosion I've encountered with pretzel rolls. I must say, clearing customs is becoming a real hassle.

If your making brat burgers at home you realy need to try one of the local products that I wholeheartedly endorse. The pork burgers from Stone Cross Farms are the fricking bomb. as a matter of fact, that's what I had for dinner last night because I found a pack that had been hiding in the freezer. I like them with some Rendevous (Rib place in Memphis, TN) Dry Seasoning on them.

Don't shoot the messenger, but Kroger carries some frozen pretzel rolls, that aren't half bad. They are NOT in Klaus' league, but they are readily available.

Also Trader Joe's. I heard a customer raving about them yesterday (I'm not such a big fan of the ubiquitous pretzel bread).

I saw Sister Schubert brand Pretzel Rolls at ValuMarket today. I have no idea how good they are.

That's the brand I bought at Kroger. Actually, pretty good.

Just to revisit this thread, Kroger now carries a new brand of pretzel roll in their Delis at select stores.
