Local Christmas Concerts

by Matthew D » Tue Nov 29, 2011 12:39 pm

Hi,

I am seeking suggestions on great Christmas Concerts to attend. I'm not much of an XMAS person, but I do have a weakness for well-presented Christmas carols (both Christian and Secular).

I'm open to all suggestions.

While I am not opposed to attending religious events, I would prefer such events be held by institutions with progressive social views.

Bunbury Theater is doing "Santaland Diaries" by David Sedaris! It's not a concert, but it IS hilarious.

Also not a concert, but Actors Theatre's production of "A Christmas Story" is good stuff.

You might want to call Walnut Street Baptist Church to see if they are still doing the Living Christmas Tree. It's pretty awesome. Their number is 589-5290.

**Well, scratch that. Apparently they stopped doing that in 2006.

This will be the best locally-produced Christmas concert of the season. Harry's amazing.

Definitely religious, but mainline, no evangelizing  ... a mix of "well-known hymns to Taize to ballads to upbeat contemporary."
