Toyota maintenance/repairs, Crescent Hill or nearby?

by Robin Garr » Mon Dec 05, 2011 8:21 am

Now that my Matrix is three years old and still running like a top, I want to keep it that way for another 200,000 miles or 10 years, whichever comes first, and I'm not 100 percent sure I can rely on a firm that SELLS Toyotas and is always bombarding me with "Isn't it time for a new car" advertising to keep my old one running so I don't need a new one.

I used to love Crescent Hill Imports on Cannons Lane at Frankfort, but Tony retired. Does anyone know of another excellent, reliable shop? Within walking distance - mile, mile anna half - of my digs in Crescent Hill would be ideal, but ...

In case you decide to venture a bit further, McCormick Motorsports in Old Louisville is excellent. I've used them for years. Matt, the owner, is a great, and honest guy. Unfortunately, it would be a very long walk from Crescent Hill.

Possibly doable by bus, though. Thanks, Brad.

It would be. I really would check it out. He specializes in imports, and when anything major needs to be done he'll usually give you various options regarding prices and methods of repair, along with his recommendation. Rarely have the more expensive options been his recommendations. He also does little things like throwing in a free oil change when the repairs are on the more expensive side, etc. He's just a really great guy to deal with, and he knows his stuff. There's never any selling of services that aren't needed or preying on those with less knowledge of cars.

It is way away from you but I have my Toyota serviced by Crestwood Radiator. My car is not a common make and model and he does a fantastic job and is very resonable. Give me a holler and I'd be more than happy to give you a ride to or from.

Volksdoktor at Payne and Lexington has expanded from their original German-car orientation and services Japanese and other imports. We take our Toyota there. I trust them.

Hunt & Knight Auto on Watterson Trail has the regions only Toyota certified Service Tech outside of a dealership - it's the building with the red corvette on the side, by the softball park.
