Junk "store" with the caboose at Frankfort and Williams

by Steve P » Wed Sep 28, 2011 9:01 pm

Anyone know anything about the place with the (L&N) Caboose at the corner of Frankfort and Williams (kitty corner to Maido). Is this an antique store (?) with normal business hours or just some kind of hoarders nest ? We were peering in the windows the other day and there are a couple of things inside that we really-really "need".

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure it is just a hoarders nest.

I have talked to the owner. He has no interest in selling anything. Friendly white bearded guy that you sometimes see sitting on a bench on the sidewalk. He has said that one of the houses across the street also has a bunch of stuff but doesn't want anyone in the house.

Sometimes you will see old trucks or cars sitting on the street. Those are his.

Do you ever watch American Pickers? Frank and Mike managed to pick up a bike or two and some BB guns from the guy . I was on a plane overseas when I saw the episode. I'm sure the air marshal got nervous when I started reacting to seeing Frankfort Avenue on my screen. My seat mates were not nearly as impressed as I was.

His name is Jerry Lotz. If you Google him you'll find more. I love walking over there after breakfast and peering in the gates. Pure eye candy!

Here's a little write up and some photos of the guy's place:

Positively fascinating. I can only imagine the interesting stories associated with how some of these these (ehhhhhhh) treasures (??) were acquired. Thanks for the link Greg (and Justin).
