Anyone going to any great Summer concerts?

by Brian Taylor Clark » Sat Jul 09, 2011 7:44 pm

I'm writing this thread to live vicariously through some of you who have plans or just got back from any great outdoor concerts this summer. Me, working too much to break away, but I'd love to hear your plans!

I live just up the road from Horseshoe and we enjoyed some of their summer concerts from the Rv parking lot for free. We like to take our kids and no one under 18 allowed.

Aside from them losing our 5 tickets, anyone know why they cancelled the series this year? We heard lack of available workers, but that's just gossip.

I think the last one we saw was Weezer. I liked it. Saw the one two years ago where they had standing room in the main floor, The Killers, my wife likes them.

I'll be at Halfway to Forecastle this Friday night with the ACF-KY Chapter. We are fortunate enough to be one of two food vendors.
This year we will be offering reasonably priced "street fare" such as Cantina style tacos ($3 each or 3 for $7) and Gyros ($7 each) and Stir Fried Vegetables and Noodles ($7) and beverages (canned soda and bottled water only a buck each!) :D

We'll also be backstage running the hospitality operations supporting the production crews and artists. It's a lot of hard work but it's pretty fun. 8)

All of the proceeds fund various ACF & Chef and Child programs for the year, so if your down there be sure to stop by the booth, say "hi" and buy something!

I've volunteered to do security in years past, always had a great time. Looks like it won't be as muggy as it has been in the past. Have a great time, it's hard not too!!!

Maybe it was them losing all that money I was wasting over there...I quit going over there on Dec 26 last year (pats self on the back :) )...been one time since. Just kidding I don't know only went to a few concerts when I did go over there.

U2...Nashville...4th of July weekend. It was like being born again. Awesome-awesome show.

Check out the last encore. The band brings a (blind) fan up onstage to "join" the band. Wait until you see the surprise ending.

I'm not a huge U2 fan... but that was seriously cool of them to do. Awesome.

I'm going to the Def Leppard/Heart show. Can't wait! Heart were fantastic when the opened for Journey a few years ago, and Def Leppard never disappoint.

My best outdoor concert so far this year would have to be The Black Keys at Bonnaroo, but there were really too many great bands altogether. I saw the Decemberists at Iroquois earlier this year and couldn't have asked for a better show. It was my first time at the venue, the weather was nice, and the band was great to boot. Also had the pleasure of seeing Phish a few months back at riverbend in Cincinnati, had a great time then too.
