by Heather L » Fri Sep 03, 2010 11:55 am

Hey Gang!

The National Jug Band Jubilee takes place on Saturday, September 18th
at the Brown-Forman Amphitheater in Waterfront Park (right next to Tumbleweed on River Rd)
and it's FREE!!! :D

We will be featuring 9 jug bands from across the country:
The Lost Shoe String Band (Bloomington, IN)
Y'uns (Knoxville, TN)
The Cincinnati Dancing Pigs (guess!)
Deep Fried Pickle Project (Coloma, MI)
Juggernaut Jug Band (Louisville!)
The Blair Street Mugwumps (Eugene, OR)
Smokin Fez Monkeys (Akron, OH)
The Roe Family Singers (Kirkwood Hollow, MN)

And headlining this year's event we are very proud to present jug band/folk revival legends:
JIM KWESKIN & GEOFF MULDAUR

There will also be a jug band workshop, including a special one just for kids!

We will have reasonably priced local food and drinks available for purchase including:
Ear's What's Poppin: All-natural kettle corn
Pepperwood Catering: The King of Kentucky barbecue
Gelato Gilberto: Louisville's only authentic gelato (creamy-smooth Italian ice cream)
Rodney Murphy's Grill: Hot dogs, brats and more
BBC Beer: Nut Brown Ale, Jubilee Red, American Pale Ale (APA) and Jefferson's Reserve Bourbon Barrel Stout
Fetzer Wines: Summer reds and whites (OK fetzer wines are not local but we love BROWN-FORMAN!)

Gates open at Noon. Music goes from 1pm-11pm. Hope to see you there!

Just a little pre-weekend bump!

And a few more details on the 4:00 workshop -

Come learn the mechanics of having fun with Jug Band Instruments! We will have one workshop that is open to everyone, and will be focusing on Jugs, Washboard, Vocals and Lyrics, Kazoo and SAW! We will also have a special workshop just for kids 3+, where they can build their own instrument - specifically "doodle basses!"

We are also having the first induction ceremonies for the Jug Band Hall of Fame through-out the day. The first inductees are as follows:
Cannon's Jug Stompers - Artist
Memphis Jug Band - Artist
Jim Kweskin and the Jug Band - Artist
Arlo Leach - Patron
Minneapolis Battle of the Jug Bands - Institution

Hope some of you can make it out!
