Retreat Center Looking For Baker/Salad Prep

This position is five days per week. Work hours are 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Average hours are 25 to 30 per week and upward to 40 hours during busy season. Starting pay is $11 per hour.
SUMMARY: Employee assist the chef in preparation and serving of food and in maintaining cleanliness of food service areas and equipment by performing the following duties. Prepares baked products and preps salad bar for residents, guests and employees by performing the following duties:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assist with food preparation in the kitchen, pantry, etc.
• Assures salad bar is set up and presented satisfactorily in a timely manner.
• Assist Chef in planning and changing menus.
• Identify problems and resolve them in a timely manner.
• Assist with all catering requests.
• Other duties may be assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed represent knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Associate's degree or equivalent from approved college or technical school preferred or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of quantity food production and equipment.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must be flexible to meet the demands of the department. Strong baking skills. Able to prepare desserts for groups of 50-100 people per meal. Be knowledgeable and comfortable with dietary restrictions such as gluten free options and food allergies. Must be able to function in a team environment, be flexible, customer oriented, and demonstrate a spirit of hospitality.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and could interpret a variety of instructions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here represent those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, and crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance.
