I've never understood why these broad-line foodservice distributors will hire some 25 yr. old that's been selling something like cell phones or used cars for a year and considers that experience more valuable than someone like myself with 25 years of experience in operations. One national company is notorious for this more than others. They have a pretty high turnover rate.
I love it when I get a brand new account guy with all this so called "sales experience" and they have no idea about what products I want, how they're packed or the yield.
Once they find what I'm looking for in the computer, I have to explain to them what the abbreviations in the product guide mean. You know, simple things like IQF, CVP, RTU, SS and the like.
They also try selling you stuff that you will never use in a million years as well because they are not familiar with your operation. That person will usually only last about six months and then I have to start "training " the next new one all over again.
