Have you tried Carosi's?
Haven't been for awhile, but remember it as being very good Italian (I think they have a website)....

Born and raised in Terre Haute but have lived in Louisville since 1990. I can tell you that every time I go back the best I can do is the same chains that you find here. Not that there is anything wrong with chains, but a quick search on Yahoo still didn't yeild much. I will recomend Ballyhoo for some good pizza (comparable to Wicks I think, just my opnion)

Looks like it will be Italian / Pizza. I go every year for a Sacred Harp singing, but nothing has really impressed me (and it doesn't take much) Thanks for the suggestions!

Terre Haute is awful. really it is. I visited a few times on business when I lived in Indy. Just stick to the chains. If they have Bonefish now (I doubt it), try that.

Out tour guide had already planned a trip to Gerhardt's Bierstube, across the street from Carosi's. The sauerbraten and spaetzel was tasty, with a rich gravy. The assorted schnitzels received good comments as well. The green beans were bland to my taste, maybe a regional thing.

Thanks again for all the ideas. We go to Terre Haute every year, so I will have some more ideas next time!
