Patton Museum

by Gayle DeM » Sat Jul 26, 2014 1:06 pm

Has anyone been to the Patton Museum at Ft. Knox lately. Has it been affected by the cut backs at Ft. Knox?

If my family and I went (5 adults and 7 kiddos) is there some place to lunch coming or going between the East End and Ft. Knox?

Gayle, Jessie's Diner on Dixie has been getting good reviews.

The town of Radcliff, near the Fort Knox entrance, also usually has some lndie places, typically run by career Army families. Maria Bell's first Greek place was there, for instance, and I've heard tales of German eateries.

As for the Patton Museum, dunno much about it. I remember going there as a kid, back in the Jurassic, and being able to climb all over the tanks and even get inside. I'll bet a nickel that you can't do that any more.

Thanks, Robin. I've been there a couple of times since the Jurassic Era, but I haven't been there in the last fifteen.

Gayle, Trip Advisor lists three German restaurants in Radcliff, Ky., and for what it’s worth, all three make it into the top 8 rankings. Deutsche Ecke might have beat out the top place, Song’s Korean, 835 N Wilson Rd, 270) 351-8082, save for one review that dinged Ecke for not being “authentic.”

If you hit up any of these places, tell us about it!

Deutsche Ecke (#2)
451 N Wilson Rd
Radcliff, KY 40160
(270) 352-4171

German Cottage Cafe (#7)
1285 S Wilson Rd
Radcliff, KY 40160-1654
(270) 352-1966

Caroline's Alpine Haus (#8)
7260 North Dixie
Radcliff, KY 42701
(270) 982-1177

Here is TripAdvisor’s complete list of 60 Radcliff eateries:

Thanks, Robin. My family comes to town the first week in August. Currently we are just discussing options.
