By pure chance we came across this place in the Sharonville / Blue Ash area (to the north and east of downtown)

Brij Mohan Indian Sweets & Restaurant
http://brijmohansweets.com/

Originally opened as a sweets purveyor it expanded in 2010 into sweets and a self-service restaurant.

We discovered it after having already eaten lunch but decided to stop in to check it out and maybe grab a desert or two. We took a sampling away and pretty much loved everything. The atmosphere was buzzing at lunch and we knew we would return for dinner that night.

We arrived at about 8:30pm which I figured would be safe in relation to their 9:30 close time. The place was packed and we had a short wait in line. People did not stop coming in the door until about 9:20 or so.

The demographic was about 95% Indian and 5% anglo. All ages were eating there -- from babies through very senior folks.

Here's how their self-service concept works: you walk in and order at the front counter, if you are dining in then you will be assigned a table or informed of a wait time (more the case for larger parties). You then take disposable plates / bowls / cutlery and water from a station and wait for your food to be delivered to your table. When finished you box your own leftovers and bus your table.

They also still have display cases where you can order various sweets to go.

so: it's not a high end dining room. It's clean, well lit, functional and effective for managing the constant flow of customers.

The owners are a multi-generational family affair. We received a friendly and warm welcome.

The food was excellent. It's pure vegetarian, I'm not sure about vegan.

There are numerous detailed reviews on yelp, urbanspoon, etc.

here's an '07 piece from when they were just a dessert place:

and they're in a "where to eat guide" from a 2013 music fest -- this looks like a great list:

Sounds awesome! Thanks for the report. We have to go up to IKEA one of these days, and I'm thinking the trip just got better.
