I second Justin on The Patterson House for drinks. They've put the deviled eggs back on the snack menu, which is a very, very good thing.

I was just there a few weeks ago and friends took me to City House (http://cityhousenashville.com/), and it was really, really good. Great food and drinks. It's quite popular, so make reservations as far in advance as possible.

Hit up the bar at the the Hutton Hotel in midtown for good drinks (http://www.huttonhotel.com/).

Finally, Whiskey Kitchen is pretty good for upscale pub food and drinks (http://mstreetnashville.com/whiskey-kitchen), and Virago is great for sushi/asian fusion, especially if the weather cooperates and you can get a seat on the upstairs deck (http://mstreetnashville.com/virago).

Another tip - if you're there on a Thursday, head downtown for the free concert series "Live on the Green" (http://www.liveonthegreen.net/). Great bands, tons of food trucks, and good beer. I caught Dr. John and Moon Taxi a few weeks ago, and it was a great time.

The food is spectacular. As to whether or not it's worth $100, that's really up to the individual and depends on their perception of value. I would rather spend $135 for the 24 courses at Rogue 24 in D.C., but I still feel The Catbird Seat is an amazing dining experience.

Has anyone dined at Mambu?

I liked city house a lot and I just strolled in w/o a reservation but I was dining alone so they just sat me at the bar. Awesome wine list, too.

My daughter and I ate there in July. It was good, not great. A cool location though. We really loved MacK and Kate's, which is in Franklin. A bit of a drive, but we both thought we should've just gone there again.

We were there in August and stayed at Union Station Hotel. One night, we were pressed for time so we ate at the bar (Prime 108). The food was fabulous. We had brunch there on Sunday in the restaurant (beautiful atmosphere) and it was excellent as well. Nice surprise.

If you want really fabulous food without the $100/per pricetag go to Etch.

The best Ethiopian food we've had in a 5 state area was in nashville at Gojo (http://www.gojoethio.com/). Not a high-end dining room, comfortable & friendly.

Just drove through Nashville again, took the opportunity to stop at City House again, and can't say enough how excellent my experience was there.

Any suggestions for great food, in a family friendly place? We are heading to Nashville/Franklin for Easter and looking for a couple of great places to go. We'll likely be downtown one day, Franklin part of the other; we rented a house so we will also be cooking in.
