Any recommendations for restaurants and/or pubs in Dublin?

Haven't been there since '89, Sherrie, so my memories are mighty stale, and Ireland has been through an economic renaissance since then and is reportedly chockablock with upscale eateries that didn't exist two decades ago.

I can tell you, though, that I went almost crazy trying to find a non-touristy pub with Irish people playing traditional Irish music on tin pipes and dulcimers. Every pub in Ireland, it seems, plays loud American rock and serves Budweiser. And Guiness, of course. Get used to waiting about five minutes for your properly pulled Guinness to settle before they'll serve it to you. To experience this in advance, try the Irish Rover. And come to think of it, if you drop by the Rover and chat up the Reidys, I'll bet they've got plenty of more current advice about Dublin!

Normal:
Brasserie Sixty-6
Dakota
The Porterhouse
FXB Grill

Higher end:
Unicorn
Fire (bit pricey)
Fallon & Byrne (slightly pricey but damned good)

As with everything in boom-bust Ireland, call ahead to make sure they still exist!
