Beef stock

by StaceyBreckel » Sat Mar 06, 2021 11:14 am

Do any of the local specialty shops or butchers sell homemade beef stock? I’m not at all a fan of any of the premade ones sold in stores.
I do have a big batch of frozen chicken stock that I made about a month ago, but seeing as I’m planning to make pho this coming week, I’d prefer to use beef.
I’m cooking for someone who can only have liquids and very soft foods right now, so am trying to cook things that they can eat but will also work for me (they’ll be leaving the beef out of theirs).
We love foods from around the world and cook very little American food so have things like pho, egg drop, and Tom yum on the menu for the coming week

Stacey, it sounds like you're doing an amazing job of keeping a restricted diet interesting and tasty. :)

Okay, the first beef stock I can come up with is not freshly made, but Whole Foods has a quality organic pre-packaged stock for sale. It's $4.19 for a two-pound package.

Will that help, or are you looking for something fresh? My wife was desperate for chicken broth one time, and NamNam Cafe agreed to sell us a quart of theirs, destined for pho. Maybe they would do the same with beef broth?

Red Hog used to sell stock in the butcher shop. Probably worth a phone call.
