Canned Duck Fat?

by RonnieD » Fri Nov 17, 2017 8:42 pm

I'm very new to the world of cooking duck, so I'm not really sure where to get canned duck fat. Any help?

I asked at Highlands Kroger meat department. They don't carry it but suggested Red Hog and seemed very confident they would have it. I asked at the St. Matts Pauls meat counter. They don't carry it but suggested Kingsley Meat and Catering on Taylorsville Road.

I received a jar of duck fat as a gift and I think it came from Williams Sonoma. So basically, little help here :D

Actually, Kingsley's is my stop for the duck leg I'm roasting, so it's good to know they are likely to have it. Thanks!

Sadly Kingsley carries neither duck leg nor canned duck fat. I can buy a whole bird, but that's more work that I'm into right now, so I'd rather not go that route if I could avoid.

Any other options for obtain a leg of duck and can of its finest fat?

I want to say I've seen duck fat at Fresh Market. I bought a jar on Amazon. If you're not in a hurry, you could order it on there. As for the actual duck leg, I can't offer any advice.

Yeah, I'm considering online options as a last resort. I'm trying to support local as much as possible with my boutique kitchen needs. :(
