Any CANNERS on this board?

I've recently renewed my love of canning and have found an awesome resource in a Facebook group called, "Safe Home Canning and Self-Reliant Living" ( https://www.facebook.com/groups/3433018 ... 1/?fref=nf ).

In the last few months, I've canned 65 pints of home-grown green beans plus a variety of rehydrated dried beans (pinto, navy and black beans), potatoes, applesauce, poultry, pork loin and bone broth (turkey, chicken, beef and ham). I have to stop canning for now because I've run out of places to store them. But I have big plans for my summer garden. :D

Any of my HotBytes' friends share this interest? Check out "Safe Home Canning" for lots of ideas and encouragement.

Sounds fascinating! Frankly, we generally preserve food by throwing it in the freezer :mrgreen: but I would like to know more about this.

#1 -- I recommend that Facebook board very highly.
#2 -- Don't believe everything you read on the internet about canning ideas. A lot of bad info out there.
#3 -- Consider getting a pressure CANNER (16-qt or bigger). It will open up a whole new world for you in food preservation beyond what you can put up with just a boiling water bath canner. I recommend the Presto canner, especially if you have a glass cooktop.

There is an initial investment required (pressure canner, jars, etc.) but thereafter the equipment expense is minimal. Would be happy to help anyone who wants to learn more.
