Source for banana chips in bulk

I'm looking for a local source of dried banana chips in bulk (by the pound - need 4-5 pounds). We found some at Krogers, on special in 6 oz. bags for $1.00/bag. They are no longer available in the stores I checked, but that set the target price for us.

Any ideas?

I don't know, Jim, but might try Rainbow Blossom, which has a lot of stuff in bulk. Or Nuts N Stuff?

The Fresh Market may have enough.

not local but we like the products from these folks (www.nuts.com)

they have several varieties, the basic sweetened / unsweetened are:

1lb bag — $2.99 $2.99/lb
5lb bag — $14.50 $2.90/lb
14lb case — $27.86 $1.99/lb

Thanks for the replies -- and the winner appears to be Rainbow Blossom!

Rainbow Blossom - $2.99/lb
Nuts N Stuff - $3.50/lb
Fresh Market - $3.99/lb
(some other local sources are embarrassingly high!)

For mail order sources, the shipping costs result in higher $/lb unless you need VERY large quantities.

Now we all know.

supporting our local retailers for the win.

FWIW - 14lbs from the nuts.com people with shipping comes to 2.79/lb (assuming my math is correct)

You are correct with your math (but I really don't need 14 pounds of chips!) - and also correct that supporting local retailers is a win for everyone. There are some local retailers charging FAR more per pound for a commodity product like this - I WON'T be dealing with them. But Rainbow Blossom and the others listed are all competitively priced and should be supported.

I remember Trader Joe's being pretty inexpensive. Here's an old link that had them at about $2.00 per pound, and I don't think it's changed much, if at all. (and they're good!)
