Sangria using Blackberry Wine???

by Bonnie E. » Thu May 10, 2012 4:00 pm

We have some kind neighbors that share their homemade wine. I find myself with 3 bottles of Blackberry. Too sweet for me to sip so I am wondering if it would be possible to use in Sangria? Usually I use a Spanish red, simple syrup, fruit and Fresca or Sprite, and brandy or vodka depending on what I have.

I wonder if I could skip the simple syrup and use the Blackberry Wine instead of the usual red? Or would this be a disaster? Other suggestions?

Thanks for your help.

Bonnie, if the wine tastes okay but is just too sweet for you, that plan should work!

Why not try making a mini one-glass Sangria with a splash of the wine, some soda, some citrus, some ice, shake and drink, and if you like it, use the rest of the bottle to make a bowl full?
