Our Braun stick does not get a regular workout and it has lasted years.

Smoothies with frozen fruit are made in a heavy duty blender (vitamix)

hummus is usually made in an ancient cuisinart food processor.

I have not found the braun's whisk to be helpful but we like the blade & container attachment

I wound up getting an Oster, 120 W. it came with a blender bowl and tall beaker. It was on sale at Jet plus I got 10% off because it was my initial order with Jet. Then a $5 rebate was sent with it. That brought the bottom line down to $22. I've been very satisfied wth it. It's much more powerful than the Hamilton Beach I had previously. Have not found a need to turn the speed up to max yet, it handles everything just fine on low-medium.
