Re: mushrooms in my yard

I cant remember if i posted about these or not....on a recent stay up in Pennsylvania I was introduced to Sheeps Head mushrooms. These guys are quite large(and a bit funky looking) and are picked September thru November. This has to be one of the most meaty,by taste and texture, that I have ever had. Im sorry I cant come up with a better way to explain the flavor(fairly complex),but just an incredible mineral meat quality. I had them sauteed in butter which we enjoyed with homemade dago red and grilled lamb.
here is a link to a pic of one of these beauty's.

Does anybody know if these guys grow around here? Up there they are found on old oak tree stumps.
The tall one wants white toast, dry, with nothin' on it.
And the short one wants four whole fried chickens, and a Coke.
