Need a source for pretzel bread

by Dan L. » Wed Apr 06, 2011 5:00 pm

We recently returned from vacation where we had a stunning version of cheddar cheese soup served with these pretzel bread sticks which themselves were like crack. My wife wants me to make the cheddar cheese soup but I would like to find somewhere where I can buy good pretzel bread because I hate to bake. Any ideas? We had some pretzel bread last night at NA Exchange but all I got out of the server was they get it from a German guy in Louisville.

We bought the Auntie Annes homemade pretzel kit from Kroger. It doesn't eliminate baking, but it was pretty good.

I believe they have pretzel bread rolls/sticks at Fresh Market bakeries. At least, they use to.

That's a 2008 thread, Justin. Sadly, I'm pretty sure Small Times Bakery closed.

Call over to Meridian Cafe, The "Sous" chef their makes a killer pretzel bread for occasional specials.
There would have to be a minimum order, but I think they may freeze nicely for a short period.
You can even ask him not to bake them, and then freeze them, pull them out when you need them, and bake them off.

Just a suggestion.

Awesome! Thanks for all of your suggestions. One of them is surely to work out.

Yeah they've been OOB for at least two years. Justin was right about them having some fantastic pretzel bread once upon a time however.

Zeppelin Cafe in Germantown makes it fresh daily, and features it on most of their sandwiches...

...believe they also sell it for $5 a loaf. It's great.

The Garden Gate Market at the junction of Breckenridge Lane and Bardstown Road had an outside sign today advertising pretzel bread.
