Microplanes

Anyone know if Microplane graters are sold anywhere locally? I can order them online, but you know, I buy into that whole spend-you-money-where-you-live philosophy.

Cooking at the Cottage has them. It is the Vogue Center between Lexington Rd. and Frankfort Ave and is locally owned by fellow Forumites Linda and Mark Bayens. Great store!!!

Make sure you get a sturdy one that doesn't bend when you put pressure on it. Voice of experience here.

Microplane is a registered trade mark. Make sure you get the real thing! You can get an idea of what is available at http://us.microplane.com/microplanekitchentools.aspx

You might check the TJ MAXX at 4080 Taylorsville Rd. I bought my "Microplane" brand there including a plastic cover for about $8. The EXACT same one at Williams Sonoma and Campbells Gourmet Cottage was over $20.

I'll definitely go by TJ Maxx. I like to hit their little hot sauce aisle and occasionally find some good salt or other oddball condiment stuff there.

I know what you mean Ken. I usually pickup Grapeseed oil there for a great price. Im all for buying local whenever possible but when prices are 40 to 70% better on the same items I have to save the $$$. It kinda hit and miss there and I seriously look at the sell-by dates. Overall I have gotten some great bargins at TJ's.

Tuesday Morning is good for that as well. The one in Southern Indiana on Veterans Parkway has the largest kitchen selection.
